Trip Overview

Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is one of the most beautiful short treks in Nepal. It is a wonderful walking adventure in the Himalayan foothills in the Annapurna region. Although the trek involves walking up and down the hill through the region, this trek is one of the easy ones in Nepal. Unlike Annapurna Circuit Trek or Annapurna Base Camp Trek, this adventure stays low in the elevation that makes it easy to go through.

Things You See on Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek

As the adventure goes in the lower mountains, mostly walking through the middle hills, you will enjoy nature and views. Cultural wonders of the region come in addition to nature and mountain views. Lush forest, mostly consisting of rhododendron trees, gives a wonderful experience of a nature walk. You will also enjoy one of the best sunrises over the mountains on the trip. Another beautiful fact about the trip is its elevation. It just reaches 3,210 meters above sea level and yet brings splendid views of the mountains. The panoramic view of the mountain peaks in the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range is simply stunning.

  1. Luxury city Pokhara, traditional Gurung village, Marvelous Mountain views of Fishtail and cozy tea houses.Best
  2. viewpoint to perceive mountain ranges of Fishtail, Annapurna, and Dhaulagiri.
  3. Ethnic traditional Ghandruk village and forest of orchids are the best part of the trail.
  4. Climbing along ridges, pine, and rhododendron forests.
  5. Observe the incredible sunrise over the Himalayas Ranges.

Who Can go on Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek?

As Ghorepani Hill Trek is easy trekking in Nepal, people with normal fitness level can also do it. It doesn’t require you to be super fit as for some peak climbing and other high altitude trekking. The only thing you require is the fitness level to walk up and down through mountains for about 5 hours a day on average. As the trek goes only for 5 days and on a fairly easy trail, you will love the experience without being tired of it.

The name Ghorepani in Nepali means ‘horse-water’ due to it being an important campsite for traders before it became a trekker's stop. Ghorepani is an interesting place with small shops and stalls for selling local products and crafts. The town has two parts: one in a saddle and the other a few hundred feet lower. We stop at the higher part of the Ghorepani village that offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains including Annapurna South and Nilgiri mountains. Since Ghorepani lies quite higher than our previous stop, we begin to feel the chilly weather, especially in the evenings.
