A Wonderful Traverse through River Valley to High Mountain Pass
Trekking over a mountain pass over 5,000 meters is another highlight of this trip. Thorong La Himalayan pass stands impressively at the elevation of 5,416 meters above sea level. It is a truly an adventure trekking journey from a low river valley up towards the mountainous landscape. Eventually, you will cross the pass just to descend to another side of the mountain and enter another river valley. Marshyangdi River Valley and Kali Gandaki River valleys will offer their distinct charms to the trekkers.
After your arrival in Tribhuvan International Airport Kathmandu, Nepal a Master Himalaya representative will be there for your warm welcome who will help you to transfer to the hotel, Introduce your trekking guide. Afternoon explore the Tourist Colorful market ThamelBazzar Down Town. The evening will be for well come dinner with Master Himalaya team in Thamelbazzar.
After Breakfast, you get ready for Kathmandu valley sightseeing full day. This sightseeing based on introducing some highlights of UNESCO world heritage sites of kathmandu valley such as Pashupatinath Temple the holiest Hindu Temple on the bank of Bagmati River, Patan Durbar Square old city of Kathmandu valley, Boudhanath stupa world biggest Buddhist stupa. Swoyambhunath as popular as "Monkey Temple", After sightseeing in the evening will be for trek breifing.
We walk crossing the Marshyangdiriver and travel through Bamboo and Rhododendron forests to reach Tal Besi. Our adventure then takes us to the foot of a large waterfall which is known as Tal (1675m). We then descend to Karte and ascend to Dharapani (1920 m).
The trail climbs through forest to Dhanakyu (2290m), crosses several landslides and travels uphill through the forest to Lattemarang (2360m). The trail climbs and then descends to Thanchok and to Kotho (2590m), a meadow surrounded by huge pine and spruce trees. Walking about half- hour we will reach to Chame, the administrative headquarter of the Manang district.
After Breakfast, Trek starts from Chame. We will reach Bhratang after walking through the pine forest and huge apple orchard which is surrounded by a stone wall. The trail forward has admirable views of Annapurna II, Pisang peak, Huichuli and Ngadi Chuli and reaches to Pisang, upper part of Manang Valley.
There are two routes to Manang but we follow the trail that takes us to Upper Pisang via Geru. This trail guarantees excellent views of the beautiful landscape and the mighty mountains including Annapurna and Pisang. We begin to notice a contrast in the landscape and vegetation from today. The cold and dry climate also creates a much harsher environment. Our short visit to Barge monastery, the largest monastery in the entire district of Manang will be memorable. Overnight at Manang.
After having breakfast we climb the ridge to the north of the village for excellent views of Annapurna IV, Annapurna II and Tarke Kang (7193m). If we descend from the village we will see the glacial lake at the foot of the huge ice fall that drops from Gangapurna (7454m) and then back to our lodge.
After breakfast at Manang, the trail crosses a stream, climbs to Tengi, and then continues to climb out of the Marshyangdi valley, reaches the small village of Gunsang (3930m). The trail passes through a sparse forest of juniper, rose, and barberry and crosses a large stream, to reach Yak Kharka (4090m).
It is an uphill walk to Thorang high camp. After walking for some time we cross a suspension bridge and reach Ledar village. We ascend further more and pass through towering cliffs before reaching ThorangPhedi, the last village before Thorong La pass. On this trip, we are rewarded with one of the best views of Mt. Gundang, Mt. Syagang, Thorung Peak and Mt. Khatungkan. The word Phedi in Nepalese is referred to as the foot of a mountain. After ThorangPhedi we will see the condition of clients then only move our feet towards high camp.
Crossing Thorong La pass (5416 m), one of the highest passes in the world, will be our ultimate objective today. We will be crossing the pass from east to west (Manang to Muktinath) which is the easiest and safest direction. We get up around five in the morning and walk upto the mountain. When we finally make it to the top, we realize that our journey was worth it. We can take a few photos before heading to Muktinath Valley at the foot of the Thorong La pass. Overnight in Muktinath.
After a pleasant stop at Thinigaon exploring its unique Buddhist culture, morning walk is easy on the flat river bed of Kaligandaki to reach at famous Jomsom town, the headquarter town of Mustang district with a small airstrip above Kaligandaki River. At Jomsom check into a nice lovely lodge for last overnight stop of thisadventure, and celebrate last night dinner among crews and other members.
Drive back to Kathmandu viewing green hill and Tirsuli River Bank enjoy admirable views. In Kathmandu, You can Do some Last minutes shopping. In evening, join farewell dinner organised by Master Himalaya Treks. Overnight in Kathmandu.
